The Henryk Sucharski Secondary Comprehensive School and the Mikołaj Kopernik Vocational Schools united in September 2002 to be one school named after John Paul II. Both schools celebrated their anniversaries in 2000: the former - 55th, the latter - 75th.
With about 900 students in four types of schools, we try to adjust the courses to the needs of the youth and the local job market.
In every respect, the John Paul II Secondary Schools is a modern school. With the highly qualified staff, we make sure we do our best to help the ambitious and talented youth develop their skills and interests. Thus, we prepare them to achieve the best results in their final exams of secondary education and vocational qualifications.
Shaping the young personalities on their way to adulthood, we emphasize the crucial values which should characterize every one of us.
At our students' disposal we have three computer labs with access to the Internet, a library with a multimedia reading-room and a modern new gym and various labs (for practical learning of Sciences, Humanities, hotel trade, economics, catering service) as well as workshops for mechanics classes. The school future hotel workers opened in 1995 and has been very popular with local youth ever since. The student serve their apprenticeship in hotels all over Poland as well as abroad - in Germany, the UK, the USA.
We have been closely collaborating with our partner schools in Slovakia (Lipany), Germany (Waldenkirchen), the USA (School of Polish Language and Culture in Maspeth), Italy (Liceo Scientifico Pietro Ruggieri in Sicilly), and France (Lycee d'Hotellerie et de Tourisme Alexandre Dumas).
The School is a member of the Chamber of Małopolska Hotels, Polish Association of Schools of Hotel Management and Catering, the Chamber of Tourism in Nowy Sacz , and the Tourism Organization in Krynica.
